The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year of 2010 by Anna University Chennai with the aim to develop core competence in Computer Science and prepare the students to carry out development work, as well as take up challenges in the field of Technology and Research. The objective of the department is to be a dedicated centre of learning and research in computer science and be premier in producing excellent computer professional through comprehensive educational program which creates leaders for the industry, academia, entrepreneurship and application. The Department equips students with comprehensive skills on Computer Software, Hardware, Databases, Security, Cloud Computing and Networks both at the conceptual and application levels.

The department aims at preparing students to become effective technical communicators and collaborators in multidisciplinary teams providing technical leadership to create innovative computing solutions for challenging real life problems through national and state level Hackathons.The Department is actively involved in various Academic and Research activities. Through Anna University Center for Research the Department has produced numerous outstanding Ph.D. scholars in the field of Datamining,Cloud Computing ,Web Security ,Semantics and Image Processing . The Department has demonstrated its significant potential for excellent research through high quality scholarly publications in more number of peer-reviewed Journals. Now the department holds 10 faculty members and around 180 students. Till now more than 500 students have been graduated from the Department.
